SEGD is a multidisciplinary community of designers and fabricators creating experiences that connect people to place and enrich the human experience.

We are designers of experiences connecting people to place.

We are graphic and exhibition designers, fabricators and architects, media developers and creative technologists, students and educators. Each of our members brings a diverse set of expertise, but we all share a common motivation: to make the built environment more inclusive and intuitive, emotive and engaging, sustainable and shared.

Join us on Thursday, July 11, 2024 from 12:00 - 1:00 pm ET for our SEGD Tools webinar focused on Media Architecture – Creative Technologies for Digital Placemaking and Design of Immersive Experiences, presented by Dana Michaelis, Director, Corporate Development with Nanolumens.

Creative technologies, specifically large-format direct-view LED display technology, is utilized by architects Worldwide as a compelling visual medium for the creation of engaging, inspiring, socially connected, and compelling environments. Variations of this technology may be used for indoor or outdoor applications in use cases ranging from small-format signage to building-scale media facades.

Dana is Co-Chair of the SEGD Atlanta Chapter. He leads the outreach of Nanolumens' dvLED design and support capabilities to the AEC community, is member of ABPM, and responsible for sales development in the EMEA region.

Dana’s professional career is most shaped by nearly 20 years with The Weather Channel. During that time, he helped grow the Network from its pre-launch status, through the challenging and fledgling years, to the ubiquitous multi-billion-dollar brand it is today.

Over the past decade with Nanolumens he’s helped build the organization into a leadership position that creates wonder and provides memorable experiences in physical spaces. This is both a passion and a winning point of differentiation in what has become a crowded marketplace of suppliers of dvLed technology.

He is a high-performance sales and business development executive defining the future of dvLED visualization solutions for the design community and forward-leaning corporations.

Liz Griswold is the Director of Education and Experience for SEGD. She is responsible for managing a portfolio of key internal projects and initiatives for the organization. With her focus aimed on strategic integration, Liz is responsible for the communication, management and logistical support of targeted milestones and projects. She contributes to knowledge-sharing efforts and coordinates with external partners and consultancy firms. Liz joined the SEGD staff in 2022, and has been an active professional member since 2005. In 2017, Liz co-founded the SEGD Raleigh Chapter, where she served as a Chapter Co-Chair from 2017 – 2022, and received the 2022 SEGD Chapter Chair Award. She also served as co-chair for the SEGD Emerging Experiential Professions (previously YDS) from 2020 – 2022. Prior to joining SEGD as a staff member, Liz Griswold led the Experiential Graphic Design markets for two different A/E firms.

Liz Griswold holds a B.S. in Graphic Arts from the S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University, with a concentration in public relations and a minor in English.
