SEGD Toronto is thrilled to announce the next instalment of our successful Design by Culture speaker series — YYZ Abroad.

At our last Design by Culture event we heard incredible stories of cultural origins, and how where we come from shapes the design we produce now. This time around we're exploring the idea of exporting Canadian design and how does that experience inform our process and outcomes.

Canadian designers bring a unique design approach that is distinctly 'Canadian'. Design through the lens of Canadian designers often focuses on principles of social connection, landscape, culture, Indigeneity, inclusivity, and accessibility. This type of design thinking can be sought after as an exportable design approach. We will hear from top Toronto-based design professionals about their experiences working abroad and the unique opportunities, challenges and differences from working on home turf.

This is an in-person event. As always we will have drinks and snacks. Doors open at 6:30 and speakers begin at 7:00 followed by socializing and networking.

Each Design by Culture event is hosted by one of Toronto's top design studios. This instalment will be held at the beautiful, brand-new MJMA studio in Liberty Village, so come check it out!

And a big thank you to Twilight Signs for sponsoring this event.
